Chef Pon's Sawaddee

My first post is on chef Pon's Sawadee... I would say one of our (my husband and I ) favourite Thai restaurant. This would be the second time we visited Sawadee, and I'd say it never let us down. :) The first thing you experience when you enter the restaurant is a warm welcome by its staff. Unlike some restaurants we have been to, where it took ages for someone to attend to us and get us a table for two!

The tables by the window were reserved by customers (so hint hint, call them in advance to get a seat with view). Nevertheless, the restaurant was small and cozy, so we enjoyed where we were seated. We ordered a bottle of white wine to start with. We were offered a complimentary tapioca crackers with three different sauces (tamarind, chilli and soy).

While I looked through the menu, my husband had already decided on what he's like to have - a Duck Jungle Curry! He loves spicy food, and was craving for it by now. I then ordered a chicken dish - Chicken Chilli with Lemongrass and Bamboo Shoots.

DELICIOUS was the word we could only think of when we got our food. The Jungle Curry was spicy, and tasty (for anyone who loves HOT Thai curry, do try this). My chicken chilli dish was full of flavor. You could taste the fresh ingredients that were put into it, such as the lemongrass, crunchy bamboo shoots, slight vinegary and soy taste.

We only had our mains, but the restaurant has a lot to offer. They also have sushi menu, and starters (satay in peanut sauce, spring rolls are some that I can recall).

Total bill came up to 310 (including tips) for two person (bear in mind the white wine bottle cost). In average, each main dish costs around R70; pretty reasonable for the good ambience and yummy food and good service! :)

Overall impression :
Food : 5/5
Drinks : 4/5
Ambience : 3.5/5
Service : 4/5
